What is innocence?To be innocent, you need an equal (or greater) amount of true-care, or natural-respect, to your self-interest. And you need to lack sadism. So if you had 1 unit of self-interest, but had 0.3 units of true-care and 0.7 units of natural-respect, you would be innocent. These terms: self-interest, sadism, true-care, natural-respect are defined in my 3D morality map. Almost all humans are not innocent, they have NO true-care or natural-respect. Now, a purely self-interested person is not a bad person. Being selfish and self-interested isn't the same. "Selfish" is a negative action. Being purely self-interested is a way of being that can be positive or negative, it CAN be selfish but it can also help others more than it helps itself even though it only helped the others in order to help itself. All humans make innocent choices sometimes, and at that moment they are making that choice they are innocent. But a purely innocent person is innocent all the time, because of his true-care or natural-respect. Most "purely self-interested people" are seen as good people. For example, I see president Obama, Albert Einstein, Michael Palin (the comedian), and... well loads of ordinary people that I knew and liked in real life as "purely self-interested". Maybe they are or are not. But that's how I see them. Being purely self-interested doesn't make you a bad person because self-interest isn't a bad thing. The real problem is that most humans lack true-care and natural-respect, and have a little sadism in them. This makes them so very far from innocent. If you have self-interest and sadism, then you are NOT purely self-interested! Purely self-interested people have self-interest and no sadism or true-care or natural-respect or coldness. If someone is purely self-interested they are ALREADY better than most humans, because they lack sadism! But they won't see themselves as better because they don't want to believe that sadism exists, or want the lonliness of separating themselves from humanity. And besides they aren't THAT much better, they just lack sadism, but that doesn't mean they have true-care or natural-respect. Many stupid people say that it's too much to ask to be innocent. Or that "you have to be an angel in order to be innocent, and who wants to be an angel, so whats the use of being innocent?". Well, they are wrong because they don't understand 3D morality. You can have self-interest AND be innocent. In my 3D morality map, there are 5 different ways of being innocent. You don't have to be an angel to be innocent!! Angels are innocent. Freeists are innocent. "Respectful-ones" are innocent. "Respectful-freeists" are innocent. Even "Isolationists" are innocent. Angels only have true-care so they are innocent. But freeists have an equal amount of true-care to self-interest, so they are innocent too. Isolationists even, have an equal amount of natural-respect to self-interest, so they are innocent too. You don't have to be an angel or "part of God" (a freeist), in order to be innocent! Even at the extreme end, you have isolationists who don't like helping others, because they have coldness and natural-respect. Meaning they don't want to help or harm. And they are still innocent. In paradise, EVERYONE will be innocent. That's the only way for it to work. |
