Respectful freeistRespectful freeists have self-interest, natural-respect, and true-care. These guys are much like freeists, because true-care does what natural-respect does (and more) anyhow. If a "Respectful freeist" had the same amount of true-care as a freeist, he would be quite "self-sacrificing", because these people have natural-respect too. As you can see from the diagram below. ![]() On the other hand, if a "Respectful freeist" had less true-care and natural-respect, but it still added up to be equal to their self-interest, he would be innocent, and much like a freeist, except that the extremes of behaviour that a freeist has would be "cut off". As in the diagram below. ![]() In a way, this is a much nicer way of being, because a freeist can do harmful things to others on purpose because it helps himself more than it harms the other. And freeists don't enjoy doing that but they'll do it if they have to. (Although freeists won't choose to harm innocent others MORE than they are helped by that choice). And freeists can also do things that really harm themselves in order to help innocent others, again in the same way. And that too is a very unpleasant experience, acting like a self-sacrificing angel despite having self-interest and not wanting to self-sacrifice. Well... this second example of "Respectful freeist"... wouldn't do so much of those. He'd have a much nicer way of being with those extremes of behaviour cut out, but otherwise much like a normal freeist. |
