Choice Matrix Theory
Choice matrixes analyse the options in life and desires a person has, to find out what choices are made.
And all of this is analysed in terms of morality. How good or bad something is for yourself, or for innocent others.
No being here will want to reach the edge of the arc. So the angel's arc does reach 90 degree, but the angel will not go in that direction, only less than 90 degree from it's prefered direction. An Angel would not want to go "just right", or "just left". Well, the same is true for all the beings here, none will make choices that are on the edge of it's arc, only inside the arc.
No one can choose the options (paths) that are given to them in life. The paths they get are the paths they get. All they can choose is the path they take. However, choosing one path affects the future paths offered to you. This can be good or bad.
 | Cold and cruel beings like harming others as well as helping themselves.
They have two reasons to not want to do good things, coldness and sadism. But only one reason to do bad things, sadism. |
 | Pure evil has sadism only. It's like the opposite of an angel. Pure evil doesn't mind helping itself or harming itself in order to harm innocent others. But it won't choose anything that only helps itself as that wouldn't harm innocent others. |
 | Purely self-interested beings have only self-interest. They don't mind helping or harming innocent others as long as it helps themself!
This sounds bad, but actually in practice reality favours people who cooperate over people who dominate. So in a world of purely self-interested people, there would be no war, what would be the point?
In fact, war is the proof that humanity has sadism in it's heart and is worse than purely self-interested. |
I drew the main 12 class of being above. Those diagrams assumed if anyone has self-interest, sadism, true-care, natural-respect, or coldness... that they came in units of 1. So I drew being with a morality of (1, 0, 1), but not (1, 0, 0.5), even though they share many of the same traits.
If I was to draw ALL the important minor variants (where the morality comes in values that aren't 1 or 0), I'd need to draw 128 diagrams! That's too much. Of course if I was to draw EVERY variation, even ones with unimportant differences (like true-care of 0.755 instead of 0.754), I'd have to draw an infinite number of diagrams, which would suck.
But these diagrams don't really represent most people on Earth, so I added the "typical human". And I felt like adding the "respectful freeist 2" despite that this "minor variation" is super rare on Earth. There are other "important minor variations", of course.
 | The same as the previous respectful freeist, except it has different ratio of true-care and natural-respect. This one is less "self-sacrificing" than the other one. It is more balanced. It mostly cuts out the unpleasant extremes. It is the nicest way of being, even if not as high as the freeists are. |
 | Same as the "cruel" diagram, except the amount of sadism is small. The arc is similar to the self-interested guy! Just slightly out of alignment. That's humanity for you.
For comparison: A being with equal sadism to self-interest (the "cruel" diagram) would have no chance to make it through to paradise.
The 'typical human', can do things that are better for innocent others than for themself. That doesn't make them special, self-interested people can do more. But because they can, it gives them hope. It is true that they can also do pure evil things. But cleansing the Universe is about getting the best out of everyone.
They will make it through to paradise, AFTER the sadism is removed from their soul. It won't be easy, but it will happen.
Purely self-interested people won't have such trouble getting into paradise. They just have to face up to and admit their perverse nature, so they can change it themselves, but not be hurt to get there. |
The arcs look like they reach 90 degrees, but you need to imagine they are just less than 90 degrees. The reason for this is that in theory at least, 89 degrees is still possible, but then so is 89.99999 degrees. But by the time you reach that close to 90, you can't visually tell it apart. If I was to draw lines at 85 degrees or something like that, you would assume it really means 85 degrees, and not "just less than 90".
